Corpo e Oggetto
Un workshop di fotografia con Peter Puklus presso la sede di DOOR, Roma, Italia.
Questo workshop è incentrato sulla comprensione del significato di “oggetto” in fotografia e del conseguente processo creativo che ne può derivare. I partecipanti esploreranno come ci si può ispirare a vicenda e come lavorare insieme. Attraverso il lavoro individuale e in team, verranno invitati a studiarsi, a mettersi in discussione e a rivedere la loro connessione con il mondo circostante (compagni di squadra, amici e mondo fisico). Condividere le esperienze personali e la personalità di ciascuno sarà fondamentale per rendere il più valido possibile il processo creativo descritto.
Corpo + Oggetto + Installazione. Verranno eseguiti ritratti e autoritratti, nature morte e altro. Si lavorerà individualmente e in piccole e grandi squadre/gruppi e in diverse sessioni.
Luogo: si inizierà all’interno degli spazi di Door, per poi uscire nelle strade e luoghi vicini e infine terminare all’interno. Gli spazi di lavoro verranno anche usati per fare le presentazioni e l’installazione finale.
Orario: dalle 10 alle 18/20
Giorni: 7/8 Maggio 2022
Oggetti e strumenti personali da portare: una macchina fotografica e un computer portatile. Inoltre due oggetti da casa, uno gradito ed uno sgradito. Gli oggetti dovranno essere accompagnati da 5-10 frasi stampate che li descrivano e parlino della relazione con essi.

Programma:
Giorno 1 (prima parte): ciascun partecipante dovrà preparare una breve introduzione sui propri lavori e sugli oggetti portati al workshop. Gli oggetti potranno essere presi dalle abitazioni, dal quartiere ecc e dovranno essere uno amato e l’altro odiato (piante, libri, vestiti, soprammobili, ecc…). Sarà chiesto di descriverli e di dire qual è la relazione con gli oggetti e perché sono amati o odiati in 5-10 frasi. L’autore farà poi una breve presentazione/spiegazione dei propri lavori e progetti a cui seguirà la prima sessione di foto-shooting del workshop.
Giorno 1 (seconda parte) e Giorno 2 (prima parte): questa sarà la parte principale del workshop, nella quale verranno realizzate la maggior parte delle immagini, degli still life e delle idee di installazione. Una persona/gruppo creerà un primo set in 30 minuti-2 ore di tempo per produrre le fotografie e mostrare i risultati agli altri, i quali, a loro volta, dovranno formare piccoli gruppi per lavorare insieme ed essere ispirati da queste immagini/set e dare luogo ad una risposta. Questo processo si ripeterà con diversi nuovi gruppi, fino a quando non si raggiungerà il risultato definitivo. Si riprenderà poi con una nuova proposta, in modo da mantenere delle connessioni tra le diverse immagini create dalle diverse persone/gruppi… Gli oggetti portati dovranno poter essere usati anche dagli altri partecipanti per garantire un processo di scoperta e creazione condiviso e collettivo.
Giorno 2 (seconda parte): finalizzazione dei progetti, presa delle ultime immagini, selezione/sequenza, stampa e costruzione del risultato finale in un’installazione di gruppo.

Peter Puklus è un artista/fotografo che vive e lavora a Budapest, Ungheria. Ha studiato fotografia alla Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest (MOME) e new media design alla École National Supérieur de Création Industriel (ENSCI) di Parigi. Puklus è un docente fotografia sempre presso il MOME, Budapest e il CEPV, Vevey, Svizzera.
Nel 2012 Puklus ha pubblicato due libri fotografici: ‘Un metro e mezzo’ con Kehrer Verlag, Heidelberg e ‘Handbook to the Stars’ con Stokovec, Banská Stiavnica. Nel 2016 ha pubblicato il suo terzo libro fotografico ‘The Epic Love Story of a Warrior’ in collaborazione con Self Publish, Be Happy, Londra. Questo titolo è stato inserito nella shortlist dell’Aperture / Paris Photo Photobook Award 2016. Nel 2017 vince il Grand Prix Images Vevey con il progetto recentemente pubblicato da Witty Books “The Hero Mother – How to build a house”.
Oltre allo sguardo fotografico che si trova sempre al centro delle sue opere, Puklus ha recentemente iniziato a esplorare territori sconosciuti, realizzando sculture, oggetti, dipinti, installazioni, disegni e video. Sia nello spazio di una galleria che nella forma di un libro fotografico, la narrazione ha un ruolo essenziale per l’autore, che ama mescolare diversi generi e media, per metterli in relazione tra loro.
Puklus è rappresentato dalla Glassyard Gallery di Budapest e dalla Robert Morat Gallery di Berlino.

A photography workshop with Peter Puklus at the DOOR headquarters, Rome, Italy.
This workshop focuses on understanding the meaning of “object” in photography and the consequent creative process that can derive from it. Participants will explore how one can inspire each other and how to work together. Through individual and teamwork, all participants will be invited to study, question themselves and review their connection with the surrounding world (teammates, friends and the physical world). Sharing personal experiences and each one’s personality will be essential to make the creative process described above as valid as possible.
Body + Object + Installation. Portraits and self-portraits, still lives and more will be created during the workshop. You will work individually and in small and large teams / groups and in several sessions.
Location: it will start inside the spaces of Door, then the participants will go out in the streets and nearby places and finally inside again. The workspaces will also be used for making presentations and final installation.
Time: from 10 am – 6/8 pm
Days: 7-8 may 2022
What to bring with: a camera and a laptop. In addition, two objects from home, one which you like and one you don’t like. The objects must be accompanied by 5-10 printed sentences that describe them and talk about the relationship with them.

Programme:
Day 1 (first part): each participant will have to prepare a short introduction regarding their works and the objects brought to the workshop. The objects can be taken from homes, neighborhoods, etc., and must be loved and hated (plants, books, clothes, etc …). You will be asked to describe them and to say what the relationship is with the objects and why they are loved or hated in 5-10 sentences. The author will then make a brief presentation / explanation of his/her works and projects, followed by the first photo-shoot session of the workshop.
Day 1 (second part) and Day 2 (first part): this will be the main part of the workshop, where most of the images, still lives and installation ideas will be created. One person / group will create a first set in 30 minutes-2 hours to produce the photographs and show the results to others, who, in turn, will have to form small groups to work together and be inspired by these images / sets and give rise to an answer. This process will repeat itself with several new groups, until the final result is achieved. It will then resume with a new proposal, in order to maintain connections between the different images created by the different people / groups … Keep in mind that the objects brought should also be allowed to be used by the other participants to ensure a shared and collective process of discovery and creation.
Day 2 (second part): finalization of the projects, taking the last images, selection / sequence, printing and construction of the final result in a group installation.

Peter Puklus is an artist currently living and working in Budapest, Hungary. He studied photography at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, Budapest (MOME) and new media design at the École National Supérieur de Création Industriel (ENSCI) in Paris.
Puklus is a returning lecturer and workshop leader in photography at MOME, Budapest and CEPV, Vevey, Switzerland.
In 2012 Puklus published two photo-books: ‘One and a half meter‘ with Kehrer Verlag, Heidelberg and ‘Handbook to the Stars‘ with Stokovec, Banská Stiavnica. In 2016 Puklus published his third photobook ‘The Epic Love Story of a Warrior‘ in cooperation with Self Publish, Be Happy, London. This title got shortlisted at the Aperture / Paris Photo Photobook Award 2016. Recent solo exhibitions of Puklus include ‘Life is Techno’ at Trafó Gallery, Budapest, ‘New Works‘ at Conrads Gallery, Düsseldorf, ‘Unsafe to Dance‘ in C/O Berlin, Berlin, ‘One and a half meter‘ in Robert Morat Gallery, Berlin and ‘The Epic Love Story of a Warrior’ at Capa Center, Budapest and Raster Gallery, Hungary.
The most recent and still on-going project of Puklus entitled ‘The Hero Mother – How to build a house’ received Grand Prix Images Vevey 2017–2018. Related recent exhibitions are ‘The Hero Mother – How to build a house’ in Images Festival, Vevey, and ‘The Hero Mother – Subtitle‘ at Glassyard Gallery, Budapest, Hungary. This project is going to be published in a book form under the same title in cooperation with Witty Books and Image Vevey in October, 2021.
Beside the photographic gaze which can always be found in the center of Puklus’ works, he recently started to explore undiscovered territories beyond the wooden frame. His recent projects involve sculptures, objects, paintings, installations, drawings and videos. Either in the gallery space or in a photo-book form, storytelling has a substantial role. Puklus mixes different genres and medias and makes them relate each other. Oil on canvas paintings, tufted rugs and wooden installations became more and more visible and are usually mixed with photography and other medias in his most recent solo shows, such as ‘You told I had beautiful hands’ at Artkartell projectspace, Budapest in 2020, ‘My language is not silence’ at Glassyard Gallery, Budapest in 2021 or in the group show ‘Metaphysical Passage Through a Zebra’ at Ludwig Museum, Budapest in 2021.
